Analysts at travel planning service OneTwoTrip studied and compared data from summer hotel bookings made in early May 2025 and 2026.
According to the statistics, the sharpest jump in demand for hotels was recorded in Romania – the number of hotel bookings for the summer there increased by 280%.
The second line was occupied by Canada with the indicator +275%, and on the third line Abkhazia, the interest to accommodation facilities in which increased by 95%. The list of countries with the most significant positive dynamics also includes Serbia (+65%), China (+59%), Malta (+50%), Turkey (+43%), Montenegro (+40%), Morocco (+38%) and Cyprus (+33%).
At the same time, the demand for hotel reservations in the Republic of Moldova remained at last year’s level.
The surge of interest in Romania may be related to the fact that travelers are actively using the country not only for recreation, but also as a new, more accessible point of entry to Europe, taking into account the fact that from January 1, 2025 Romania became a full member of the Schengen zone. Since that date, border controls have been abolished at land borders, as well as at airports and seaports with other Schengen countries.
