According to LIGA.net and regional news resources, multi-kilometer defensive lines are being constructed in the suburban zone. They include anti-tank ditches, fortified dugouts, as well as the installation of barbed wire and so-called “dragon’s teeth” – concrete anti-tank barriers.
The work is reportedly aimed at creating a multi-level defense system designed to impede the advance of armored vehicles and infantry. Ukrainian sources stress that these measures are preventive in nature and are part of the overall system of strengthening the southern direction of defense.
Earlier, the preparation of a circular defense of Odessa was already reported in February. At that time, representatives of the regional directorate of the Territorial Defense Forces South said that they were expanding the network of fortifications and attracting additional resources to strengthen the region.
According to the Ukrainian mass media, the defense system also includes additional engineering barriers and preparation of reserve positions in case hostilities develop in the coastal zone and on the approaches to the city.
