Officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration monitored the activities of a 48-year-old man, a native of Chișinău, for about a month.
During the investigation, police determined that the suspect had previously been convicted of similar offenses. To conceal his criminal activities, he purchased a property in one of the villages in the Anenii Noi district, on the outskirts, where he was unknown to local residents.
The suspect then used his criminal connections to purchase seeds of specific cannabis strains known for their high yield and high THC content (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol—the primary cannabinoid). The seeds were initially grown in pots, and later, after reaching a certain stage of growth, they were transplanted and cultivated in the yard of the house.
According to the evidence presented, the harvested marijuana was sold exclusively to drug dealers who enjoyed the suspect’s trust.
On July 14, based on the evidence gathered and with the support of the Fulger unit, the man was arrested.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized dozens of cannabis plants in the active growth stage, glass containers of marijuana, a package of ground hallucinogenic mushrooms, high-precision electronic scales, and zip-top bags intended for packaging drugs.
The man has been remanded in custody for 30 days and could face a prison sentence of 7 to 15 years.
