The Beleu Panorama route is about 5 km long and can be completed in 1.5-2 hours. The route offers views of the lake and the nature reserve, making it suitable for hiking and exploring the natural landscape. The trail runs along an elevated area, offering panoramic views of Lake Beleu and the Prut floodplain. The main viewing platform is located near the village of Slobozia Mare.

The second route, “Dealul Camilei”, starts in the village of Veleni and goes up to the springs. It is about 2.5 km long and can be completed in about 60 minutes with moderate exertion. The route leads to a natural spring and follows a serpentine path. The trail offers views of the famous “Golden Hills” (Colinele Aurii) of the settlements combined with the history of the region and local traditions.

The “Lower Prut” region is part of the Biosphere Reserve under the auspices of UNESCO and is characterized by exceptional biodiversity and landscapes. Lake Beleu, which is part of the reserve, is an important aquatic ecosystem recognized for its importance in the conservation of avifauna and its high potential for ecotourism, especially birdwatching.

The project is supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UNDP in Moldova under the initiative “Conservation and Sustainable Management of Wetlands with a Focus on Areas of High Natural Value in the Prut River Basin”. The routes were developed with the support of the EU4Moldova: Key Regions program. As part of the project, information boards and 62 tourist signs were installed in the Cahul region to facilitate navigation for visitors.
