Now the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs must notify the CIS Executive Committee of the decision.
According to MP Adrian Balucel, “the functions of the agreement were exhausted in 1993, when partition took place.”
“Everything that happened after 1993, when these wagons were distributed among the member states, is not covered by this agreement. Everything that happened after is the responsibility of the Moldovan authorities,” Balucel said.
As Logos Press previously wrote, the agreement was signed in Minsk in 1993. The document provided not only for the division of railcars, but also for their joint use, mutual settlements and coordination through interstate bodies. According to the annex to the agreement, Moldova was allocated 12,979 freight cars. The largest volume of rolling stock was assigned to Russia – 963,378 railcars, Ukraine – 278,665 and Kazakhstan – 109,072.
