The new agreement lays the necessary groundwork for expanding cooperation between the two countries on infrastructure projects that will help connect the Republic of Moldova to the European transport network.
One of the central provisions of the agreement concerns the construction of the Ungheni Road Bridge, which is currently in the active implementation phase. As work has progressed, it has become necessary to update and expand the bilateral legal framework to support the project’s implementation and the development of the relevant infrastructure.
The document also provides for the development of new road connections, including sections of highways and logistics facilities necessary for integrating the Republic of Moldova’s transport corridors into the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). At the same time, this will create the conditions for the implementation of coordinated border control, which will help optimize traffic flow and reduce border crossing times.
The implementation of the agreement will benefit both citizens and the business community by improving transport connectivity with the European Union, facilitating cross-border trade, reducing transport costs, and enhancing the Republic of Moldova’s investment attractiveness.
