Moldova and Denmark are expanding their partnership in the fields of culture, cinema and the media

The development of Moldova’s creative industries and independent cultural sector was discussed by the Minister of Culture, Dan Surucanu, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark in Chisinau, Søren Jensen. During the meeting, they discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, cultural heritage and the media, and identified priorities for further strategic collaboration.

The Danish Cultural Institute (DCI) plays an active role in promoting the creative industries in Moldova. Discussions at the meeting focused on continuing cooperation with the DCI, including support for the mobility of artists and the introduction of best practice in the field of cultural funding.

“Another important topic was the development of the ‘Universul’ cultural centre. We welcome the involvement of Danish experts in creating an effective management model and a clear vision for this new space for the independent cultural sector and creative industries,” noted Dan Surucanu.

Danish expertise and support will be key elements in shaping the management model for this space, which is designed to bring the country’s creative communities together.

Cinema and the audiovisual sector

The partnership in the field of cinema and audiovisual technologies remains equally significant. Thanks to the involvement of the Danish Cultural Institute and the International Media Support Organisation (IMS), specialists from Moldova regularly undergo training, enhance their skills and exchange experiences as part of well-known projects such as CinemaHora, Moldox and the CHANGE programme.

“In the field of cinema and audiovisual technology, we are laying the groundwork for new joint projects and training programmes, building on the success of previous initiatives supported by Danish partners, such as CinemaHora, Moldox and the CHANGE programme,” emphasised the Minister of Culture.

The parties expressed an interest in continuing cooperation in the media sector, with a focus on strengthening the independent press, raising the public’s media literacy and combating disinformation.
