“Yesterday we opened the first negotiation clusters with Ukraine and Moldova. I believe this is a very important milestone. But I also want to state very clearly that this is not the end of the negotiations. This is only the beginning,” said Ignacy Nemchitsky, Poland’s Secretary of State for European Affairs, on the sidelines of the EU General Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg on June 16, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
He clarified that “the opening of the clusters means that we are formally presenting the conditions that the states must fulfill.”
“This is precisely the moment when we put forward formal requirements for the candidates… Of course, we will defend our interests in these negotiations,” the Polish State Secretary emphasized.
