In 2024, Heylem and three accomplices, posing as police officers, broke into an apartment and, threatening to kill the teenager, stole a hard drive containing the keys to his crypto wallets, according to RBC.
Heilem requested a retrial on the grounds that his initial defense attorneys had failed to call witnesses and had not examined key pieces of evidence.
