National, regional and local government officials, academics, business representatives, community leaders, urban planners and civil society representatives are expected to attend.

This year, special attention will be paid to finding solutions to the growing global housing crisis and defining the role of housing as the foundation of safe and sustainable cities and communities.

For the first time in WUF’s history, a “Leaders’ Statement” format will be held, which will be one of the main policy innovations of the event.

Preparations for the large-scale international event were discussed at a meeting of the Organizing Committee established in connection with the forum.

Azertag reports with reference to the organizers that holding events of international level in Azerbaijan has become a tradition, and WUF13 is of special importance for presentation of the country’s approaches in the sphere of modern urban development and restoration of territories in the global arena.

It is noted that the year 2026 has been declared the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in Azerbaijan, which gives the forum additional significance. WUF13 is considered as a key international event within this agenda.

WUF was established in 2001 by the United Nations to address one of the most pressing issues of our time – rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economy, climate change and politics.
