In response, Vasile Tofan stated that such cases are not common practice and that, on the contrary, most employers value the experience citizens have gained abroad.
“I want to believe that this is a minority that discriminates against members of the diaspora, because our labor market is, after all, very tight. At least in the private sector, there is a shortage of workers. Employers are competing for good candidates,” Tofan noted.
According to him, work experience abroad, language skills, and new professional skills are an advantage for those returning to Moldova.
“I know of dozens of cases where employers, on the contrary, highly value this experience because people come back with new perspectives, language skills, and international connections. He added that, in his estimation, such cases account for less than 5%.
