The forum took place as part of the official three-day visit to Germany by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, from 28 to 30 September.

A press release from the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan notes that during the meeting, the ministers discussed a wide range of issues, including the development of mineral resources, technology transfer and the development of value-added processing. The signed roadmap provides for the deepening of bilateral partnership and the implementation of joint projects.

Speaking at the forum, Nagaspayev noted that since 2005, the volume of German direct investment in Kazakhstan’s economy has exceeded $8 billion, with around 90 per cent of this going to the manufacturing sector. More than 1,100 enterprises with German capital are operating in the country.

According to him, the portfolio of Kazakhstani-German cooperation includes 44 investment projects with a total value of $54.2 billion. These include production facilities operated by CLAAS, Linde, Siemens, Heidelberg Materials, Knauf and others.

Furthermore, on the sidelines of the forum, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a memorandum of understanding with WILO Central Asia, providing for the localisation of pump system production, as well as an agreement with Deutsche Bahn AG on cooperation in the field of railway engineering.
