According to the draft government resolution, the measure aims to align the structure of the diplomatic service with current foreign policy priorities and the needs of diplomatic missions. Authorities argue that the transfer will allow for more efficient use of human resources and strengthen the capacity of the Moldovan Embassy in Japan to develop bilateral relations.
However, the change will result in additional annual expenses of approximately 350,000 lei. The costs are primarily related to differences in allowances, reimbursement of expenses for rent, airfare, and other expenses specific to the host country. The additional expenses will be covered by budget allocations already approved for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, without the need to identify additional financial resources from the national public budget.
Following the amendment, the Republic of Moldova’s diplomatic mission to the Russian Federation will have 20 staff members, and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Japan will have 5 staff members.
