The discussion focused on the energy sector’s readiness for the cold season, ensuring the necessary quantities of natural gas and electricity, building up reserve stocks, and the measures required to guarantee an uninterrupted supply to consumers.

During the meeting, Energocom’s Chief Executive, Eugen Buzatu, outlined the situation regarding natural gas procurement, clarifying that demand for the 2026–2027 heating season is fully covered. The company has signed contracts for the required volumes and secured transport capacity.

Furthermore, Energocom has fully met its obligations regarding the creation of natural gas reserves. Gas reserves totalling 56.3 million m³ are stored in Romania and Ukraine and are intended for use in exceptional circumstances. The obligation to maintain 15 per cent of reserves has also been fully met, with approximately 73 million m³ of natural gas set aside for this purpose.

As regards electricity, the company’s procurement portfolio will continue to include electricity purchased on the domestic market, as the central electricity supplier, whilst the remaining requirements will be met through purchases on foreign markets, depending on commercial terms and the technical capacity for electricity transmission to the Republic of Moldova.

“During the cold season, we have met natural gas demand and fulfilled our obligations to build up stocks. At the same time, we are preparing electricity procurement, taking into account the development of regional markets and the availability of transmission capacity. Ensuring the continuity of natural gas and electricity supplies to consumers remains our priority,” said Buzatu.
