Customs adopts EU experience of carbon tax implementation

Strengthening institutional capacity to implement carbon tax mechanisms and green transition policies was discussed at a regional workshop in Vienna. Moldova was represented at the event by Caroline Gargaun, Deputy Director of the Customs Service.

During the sessions, participants exchanged experiences and international best practices in the application of regulatory instruments in this field, with a focus on harmonization of legislation with European Union standards.

The participation of the Customs Service in this regional platform is of great importance in the context of the European integration process, which implies a broad adaptation of the regulatory framework to the acquis communautaire, new customs procedures and compliance requirements for the business environment, the CU information noted.

The event has become an important platform for regional dialog and cooperation between customs, tax and environmental authorities, contributing to strengthening an integrated approach to environmental protection and promoting sustainable trade in the context of modern challenges.
