This issue was brought up for discussion by the Joint Control Commission (JCC) during a meeting held today, June 4, 2026, in the city of Bender. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova officially notified the participants in the Security Zone monitoring process of the start of the technical procedures and made a firm demand that no obstacles be placed in the way of the work of the specialists on the ground.

At the same meeting, the delegation of Chisinau reiterated its insistence on the removal of restrictions affecting the free movement of citizens on public roads in the Security Zone. In addition, the need to ensure unimpeded access of media representatives from the right bank of the Nistru River to the Commission’s meetings was emphasized, which is crucial for a correct and transparent coverage of the work of this body.

In addition to discussions on freedom of movement and access to the press, the agenda of the meeting in Bender included the approval of the appointment of two new military observers from Moldova, who will join the group responsible for maintaining stability in the region.
