The National Bank of Moldova has approved a new calculation of base insurance premiums, adjustment factors, and indicative premiums for domestic (OSAGO) and international (“Green Card”) auto insurance. The decision will take effect in 40 days—on October 4, 2026.
The base premium for international auto insurance in Zone 3, which covers travel to member states of the international “Green Card” system, including EU countries, will remain unchanged (336 euros).
For Zone 2, the calculation of premiums and coefficients does not apply due to the suspension in 2023 of Russia’s and Belarus’s membership in the International “Green Card” Insurance System.
The NBM calculated the base insurance premiums and adjustment coefficients based on aggregated statistical data for the past 5 years provided by licensed insurance companies.
The indicative premium rates for all types of auto insurance have been approved. For mandatory auto liability insurance (OSAGO), the rates vary depending on the type of vehicle, its engine displacement and intended use, place of registration, as well as the driver’s age and driving experience. For the “Green Card,” the vehicle category and the duration of coverage are taken into account.
