Argentine sunflower failed to meet EU regulations

In particular, the concentration of one of them (deltamethrin) is about five and the other (malathion) three times higher than the norms established by the EU regulations. There are not many options for further developments in this situation – either reclamation or re-export (obviously, with costs). Market operators claim that quality problems also arose in the case of Argentine sunflower supplies to Turkey.

According to oilseed market participants, at the moment there are 11 ships with Argentine sunflower on their way to Bulgaria, Bulgarian traders have declared their intention to import about 400 thousand tons of this product.

Earlier Logos Press reported that, according to the assurance of the director of Floarea Soarelui SA Stella Ostrovetskaya, the cargo of one ship – 27.5 thousand tons of Argentine sunflower – will be delivered to Moldova and processed at the enterprise of the mentioned group of companies in the free economic zone Giurgiulesti. Sunflower oil and sunflower meal obtained from this raw material will be fully exported. The cargo from the second vessel will be delivered to the Trans Oil plant in Romania.
