Alexei Taran
The election of Alexei Taran to this position is a recognition of Moldova’s contribution to regional cooperation, as well as of the active role that ANRE plays in the structures of the energy community. This is also the first time that Moldova holds the chairmanship of this organization.
According to ECRB Procedural Act No. 1/2024, the Chairman of the Board is elected for a term of 2 years from among the chairmen of the regulatory authorities of the contracting parties of the energy community. The election is held by secret ballot, provided that two thirds of votes are obtained and at least two thirds of ECRB members participate.
In his new position Аlexei Taran will coordinate the activities of the Energy Community Regulatory Committee, the body that brings together the national regulatory authorities of the Energy Community Member States (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Belarus, Korea, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and promotes the development of competitive, transparent and integrated regional energy markets in line with European standards.
The mandate entrusted to the ANRE Director General confirms the high appreciation enjoyed by the regulatory authority of the Republic of Moldova at the regional level and emphasizes the continuous progress of our country in the process of integration into the European energy market.
The Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) is an independent institution that coordinates the activities of national regulatory authorities within the Energy Community and plays an important role in promoting regulatory harmonization and strengthening regional cooperation in the energy sector.
