The total cost of the project exceeds 33 million euros, which is equivalent to approximately 700 million lei.
Thanks to this project, more than 70% of the capital’s kindergartens will be renovated.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund for Eastern Europe (E5P Fund), and European Union member states.
It provides for the energy retrofit of about 50 kindergartens, 30 of which will be renovated in the first phase.
The capital’s administration emphasizes that most childcare facilities in Chisinau were built in the 1970s and 1980s and require significant investment to meet modern standards for energy efficiency, safety, and comfort.
The work will include insulating the buildings, replacing windows and doors, modernizing heating and ventilation systems, electrical equipment and lighting, the installation of solar panels, as well as other energy-efficiency measures that will reduce energy consumption and facility maintenance costs.
The preparatory phase of the project was launched at the end of May of this year. As Logos Press reported at the time , it involves conducting detailed energy audits in kindergartens. According to the project, the assessment is being carried out in 30 kindergartens in Chisinau.
