Igor Grosu, chairman of the ruling party, acknowledged that the party leadership had failed to respond in a timely manner to systemic problems and had overlooked the internal crisis. PAS emphasized that the public’s outrage is justified, and as a result, the party is moving from public statements to tough measures designed to reaffirm its commitment to the principles of integrity.
At a meeting of the party’s National Standing Bureau, the party took action against those implicated in the scandal. Specifically, Anastasia Taburchanu was stripped of her party membership, while Mihai Bondar, Petru Bondar, and Lilia Coica were expelled from the party.
In addition, PAS publicly demanded that the government immediately remove Petru Bondar from his leadership position at Metalferos, and called for an urgent review of excessive salaries in the state-owned enterprise sector, announcing the launch of similar internal investigations at other state-owned facilities.
The ruling party apologized to citizens for the mistakes made and assured them that the process of purging its own ranks would continue much more rigorously in the future. Grosu emphasized that, despite these setbacks, the strategic goal of integrating the Republic of Moldova into the European Union and building strong institutions remains unchanged.
It should be recalled that earlier, MP Radu Marian—who, according to media reports, had promoted Dumitru Vangeli for the position of director general of MoldATSA—announced his resignation as chair of the parliamentary committee on economy, budget, and finance. Roman Kozhukhar also stepped down from his position as Director General of the Public Property Agency (APP). Nevertheless, both politicians have retained their leadership positions within the PAS party, and Radu Marian continues to serve as a member of parliament.
