LEADER is relaunching the “Ecotourism Compass” program

The National LEADER Network for Rural Development of the Republic of Moldova (RNDRL) announces the launch of a new phase of the national “Ecotourism Compass” program. The initiative is aimed at training small entrepreneurs in rural areas who seek to develop sustainable, innovative tourism services linked to the natural environment, culture, and traditions of local communities.

Through this program, RNDRL aims to accelerate the transition to inclusive rural tourism. This new phase prioritizes environmental sustainability, the preservation of local heritage, and the promotion of sustainable economic growth at the local level.

Budget-Friendly Innovations

This year, the program is shifting its focus to the development of innovative and affordable tourism services. The primary emphasis is on formats based on “immersion in nature” experiences.

We welcome: master classes on medicinal plants, authentic (local products and recipes) gastronomy, outdoor recreational activities, creative retreats, craft workshops, and more.

Inclusivity

Another defining feature of this program is its priority support for women and people in socio-economically vulnerable situations. The program encourages the active participation of those who are just starting out in economic activities, have limited access to resources, or come from communities with limited development opportunities.

Regional Focus

Geographically, the program is primarily focused on northern and central Moldova. A total of 20 spots are available for beneficiaries under the program. Training is conducted according to international standards and includes a grant component. Selected participants will gain access to a comprehensive vocational training course consisting of eight theoretical and practical sessions led by experienced trainers from the Republic of Moldova and Poland.

Half of the course graduates will receive consulting support and grants of up to 2,000 euros.
