According to the Romanian government, during the meeting at Victoria Palace, the heads of government will discuss ways to accelerate the implementation of bilateral projects, primarily in the transportation and energy sectors, as well as the regional security situation against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
“The agenda for the talks includes the current status and ways to accelerate the implementation of bilateral projects, with a particular focus on the transportation and energy sectors. These projects are designed to ensure closer interconnection between the two banks of the Prut River and to address existing challenges,” according to a statement from the Romanian government.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan “will reaffirm Romania’s firm support for the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union and will also discuss specific measures to provide assistance and diplomatic and sectoral coordination to advance this process.”
For its part, the government of the Republic of Moldova announced that, in addition to meeting with Ilie Bolojan, the prime minister will hold talks with Romanian President Nicușor Dan, the country’s parliamentary leadership, and will also take part in a meeting with representatives of the Bessarabian Entrepreneurs’ Club dedicated to stimulating investment and supporting the business environment.
“The heads of government will discuss strategic projects of mutual interest that directly affect the lives of citizens on both sides of the Prut River, as well as economic cooperation and developments in the field of regional security,” the Moldovan government stated.
This is Vasile Tofan’s first visit to Romania as Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova since taking office.
