City officials emphasize that Chisinau is the main partner in a €56 million water supply project funded by the German government. The modernized plant will supply water to Chisinau, as well as the neighboring districts of Strășeni and Călărași.
In the context of the recent debate on water supply, Mayor Ion Ceban emphasized that “the problem of allegedly insufficient water flow in the Dniester and an outdated plant is artificial.”
“The reality is quite different,” the mayor stated. “This project was thoroughly analyzed and verified by international experts before its approval. If the risks that some are talking about today actually existed, the project would not have received funding.”
As Logos Press previously reported , Chisinau is involved in a project aimed at providing residents of the region with access to high-quality water. The project is part of the Urban Development Program (OPUD), which is scheduled for completion in 2030.
Solutions will be implemented at the Apă Canal station in Vadul lui Voda to optimize operational processes and reduce water losses. At the same time, water quality will improve and its throughput capacity will increase.
