
“I sincerely congratulate Nikol Pashinyan on his election victory, won despite massive foreign interference. Moldova and Armenia share a commitment to peace and stability in Europe, and I look forward to deepening our dialog and close cooperation in the coming years,” the Moldovan head of state said in a statement posted on x (former twitter).
On Sunday, June 7, parliamentary elections were held in Armenia with 1,477,736 voters taking part, which is 58.94% of the total number of citizens eligible to vote.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Armenia Vahagn Hovakimyan assured that the voting took place without any violations that could affect the final results. According to the CEC, after processing the protocols from 2005 polling stations, the votes were distributed as follows:
Civil Contract Party – 727,160 votes (49.825%);
Strong Armenia Alliance – 340,088 votes (23.281%);
“Armenia” Alliance – 145,113 votes (9.934%);
Prosperous Armenia Party – 58,378 votes (3.996%).
The final results will be known by the evening of Monday, June 8.
Commenting on the preliminary results, Nikol Pashinyan said earlier that his party intends to form the government alone.
