Bulgarian Ambassador to Moldova Maia Dobreva emphasized that this year, the celebration of the Slavonic Script Day is doubly important, as it coincides with the first anniversary of the creation of a branch of the Angel K’nchev Rusen University, created on the basis of the Grigor Tsamblak University in Taraclia.
According to her, in just one year the branch has established itself as an important educational and spiritual center. The ambassador noted other initiatives in support of Moldova’s Bulgarian community, including the establishment of a Sunday school in the village of Parcani, the opening of the Center for Bulgarian Language and Culture at Comrat State University and an increase in the number of teachers from Bulgaria.
“These are extremely important steps for the preservation of the Bulgarian language, culture and spirituality among the younger generations,” Maya Dobreva emphasized.
Pro-rector of the Angel Kanchev Rusen University (Bulgaria) Gencho Popov expressed gratitude to the staff of the University in Taraclia for their efforts to preserve and popularize the Bulgarian language, culture and national values.
Ivan Duminica, head of the International Relations Department of the Moldovan Ministry of Education and Science, said that from 2024, a new curriculum has been approved, which increases the number of Bulgarian language classes in schools from Taraclia district and Gagauzia.
Moreover, the study takes place at all levels, not only in schools and university, but also in kindergartens, where, for the first time, public positions for Bulgarian teachers have been introduced.
