The Convention establishes a common legal framework for the promotion of international coproductions of TV series, fostering European cultural diversity, cross-border cooperation, exchange of experience and resources, and partnerships between producers from different countries. The document also establishes common standards for the recognition of official coproductions, providing a clear and predictable regime of cooperation between member states.

Also in Chisinau, on the margins of the Council of Europe ministerial session, the third additional protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters was signed. It is aimed at simplifying and speeding up international judicial cooperation by increasing the use of modern means of communication in the interrogation of persons. At the same time, it facilitates direct contacts between judicial authorities and strengthens cooperation in cross-border investigations.

Within the same event, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popşoi presented to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe an instrument of ratification of the Protocol on the amendment of the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data, signed in Strasbourg on 9 February 2023. The document introduces clearer rules for processing sensitive data, strengthens data protection standards, regulates the cross-border transfer of data to other states or international organizations and meets the challenges of technological development and cybersecurity.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the organization’s Secretary General Alain Berset.
