State to help Moldovan farmers with fertilizer subsidies

Farmers from the Republic of Moldova can benefit from a new financial support mechanism designed to facilitate the purchase of fertilizers in the context of the continuous rise in the price of this basic resource on the international market. The program is implemented by the Agency for Development and Modernization of Agriculture (ADMA).

Within this program, the state will allocate 50 million lei to farmers. According to its regulations, farmers must initially pay 15% of the total price of the commodity, the rest being covered by loan funds.

“The remaining 85% represents a loan provided by the state through ADMA, with an annual interest rate of 1%. The term of the loan is 12 months, during which time farmers can repay the amount and receive this fertilizer subsidy at a reduced price. The subsidy amount is calculated based on a rate of 100 kg/ha of planted area. The mechanism will come into effect in the fall, namely in August, when farmers will be able to submit the necessary applications,” Agroexpert quoted MAIA State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Charban as saying.

The MAIA spokesperson says the mechanism is designed so that it can be applied quickly without administrative delays, especially during critical periods of agricultural work.

The program will mainly target eligible farmers, i.e. those who have no debts to the state budget and demonstrate solvency.
