“Something could happen in the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there,” Trump said in a phone interview with the New York Post, according to the BBC.

Earlier, senior Pakistani sources told the AFP news agency that authorities in the country were working to bring Washington and Tehran representatives back together and to extend the current two-week truce.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Pakistani Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also said the Pakistani leadership was continuing efforts to facilitate dialog between the US and Iran, recalling that the meeting in Islamabad on Saturday was the first direct talks between the two countries in nearly 50 years.

“We would very much like to see if we can continue the dialog,” he said on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings. – We will continue our efforts and our leadership is engaged in that.”
