The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported this, according to Politico.
Janine John Taele, 38, was detained Sunday afternoon on the grounds of the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. According to investigators, plainclothes federal agents observed the man taking photos and videos of the club’s grounds, as well as monitoring security preparations.
Upon his arrest, a 16-round magazine was found in his pocket. During a subsequent search of his vehicle, investigators found a loaded handgun and another loaded magazine.
On Monday, deputies from the Sheriff’s Department and the FBI conducted a search of Taele’s home in Downey, Southern California. There, they discovered additional firearms, ammunition, a bulletproof vest, several notebooks containing “concerning statements”, and two radio transmitters.
The case was referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. However, the Sheriff’s Department stated that “investigators found no evidence of an ongoing threat to the public”.
