Ukraine is working on measures to support businesses due to rising fuel prices

In this regard, the government of neighboring Ukraine, which has been living in a state of war for the fifth year already, is working out possible models of support for those categories of consumers who will need help the most due to a significant increase in fuel prices.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko held a meeting with key representatives of the oil products market, reports Economic Pravda. According to her, at this meeting coordinated further actions in connection with the current situation in the fuel market, which has mainly external causes.

“Our common task is to ensure the uninterrupted availability of fuel in the state. The government expects that market operators – both state-owned Ukrnafta and private companies – will ensure proper filling of the market with fuel and its stable availability to consumers across the country,” Sviridenko said.

“Without internal speculation.”

Ukrainian authorities emphasized that although prices for oil products are formed taking into account the current situation on world markets, “internal speculation should not be allowed.”

To prevent this, Ukrnafta will act as a benchmark for a fair price on the market. “Controlling bodies, in particular the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and the State Consumer Service, should properly monitor the price situation and respond to cases of possible speculation in the market,” the Ukrainian Prime Minister was quoted by the publication.

At the same time, it is important to ensure that their work does not create unjustified pressure or obstacles for bona fide business, she noted.
