This opinion was expressed by Aleksandar Šešelj, deputy chairman of the Serbian Radical Party, in an interview with the K1 TV channel. Speaking about the reasons why some candidate countries cannot expect to join the union, he recalled the presence of the Russian military contingent in Transnistria on the territory of Moldova. In Šešelj’s opinion, Albania will also not be able to become part of the union because a significant part of its population is Muslim.
“There is no need to explain the situation with Ukraine,” he stated.
Commenting on the European integration prospects of Montenegro, whose leadership claims that it will soon join the EU, Šešelj emphasized that judges, prosecutors and ministers in this Balkan republic are actually chosen by warring mafia clans.
In summary, the politician noted that Serbia should make its own decisions without looking back at possible criticism from Brussels.
