It will be pertinent to recall that as of July 1 of this year, statistics in the pig industry were also sharply negative: total pigs – 286.3 thousand (-25.5%), in industrial pig farms – 169 thousand (-34.2%), in households – 117.3 thousand (-8.1%). Nevertheless, at the end of summer, the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry MAIA stated that the crisis of the sector due to the destruction (due to African swine fever) of the livestock of the two largest pig farms in the country has been overcome, “the sector has begun to show signs of recovery”.
Judging by the statistically verified dynamics of the number of animals in industrial pig farming in Moldova, the signs of recovery declared by the representatives of the Ministry are a modest increase of 8.7 thousand pigs (+4.9%) over three months.
