Corn price increased due to seed exports

In July-August 2025, compared to the same period last year, the average price of corn exported from Moldova increased from 3.99 to 4.04 lei/kg. A slight increase in the average price was due to a change in the product mix, Logos Press reported.

According to agro-marketing expert Iurie Rija, the average price level in the last two months of the 2024-25 marketing season was pushed up by shipments of Moldovan seed corn to Germany at 106.3 lei/kg, as well as to Ukraine, Great Britain and the USA at 23-39 lei/kg. At the same time, the main volume of ordinary grain corn in July-August from Moldova was shipped to Greece, Romania, Cyprus and Turkey at the price of 3.9-4.4 lei/kg.

In total, during July-August this year Moldova exported about 20 thousand tons of corn – about the same amount as during the same period last year.

In the last two months of the 2024-25 marketing season, the list of corn exporters was headed by Transnistrian holding Grand Invest Group SRL and Demir Agro SRL from right-bank Moldova. These two grain market operators accounted for 48% of external corn supplies – 9.7 thousand tons.

Rusagro-Prim SRL, Orom-Imexpo SRL and Trading Group SRL were also among the top 5 corn exporters this summer. These three companies cumulatively exported the largest volumes of corn from the beginning of this year to the end of summer: 46 thousand tons, 29 thousand tons and 6 thousand tons respectively.
