Ahead of the elections, 40 members of regional and municipal student councils from the central and southern regions of the country took part in a training session. They discussed how to organize democratic elections, the role of student councils, and how to effectively represent the interests of their peers. Participants also discussed cooperation with school administrations, the responsibilities of representatives, and ways to more effectively convey students’ opinions and needs.
Special attention was given to the pre-election information campaign—students will not only vote but also run for office themselves.
In the 2025–2026 school year, approximately 335,000 students were enrolled in schools, gymnasiums, and lyceums in the Republic of Moldova. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, there were 1,173 primary and general secondary education institutions operating in the country.
