According to Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research, the dialogue with the labor unions will continue in a constructive manner, and the prime minister will also participate in the meeting.
Summing up the past week, the minister noted that, pending the salary increase effective January 1, education system employees will receive additional payments of 1,000 lei, starting with their September pay. The payment will be provided over a period of four months.
A one-time payment of 2,000 lei is planned for support staff, and 3,000 lei for other categories of education system employees.
Another topic to be discussed will be the performance bonus. The Ministry proposes transforming it into a special bonus and integrating it into the compensation system. According to Perciun, the relevant proposal has already been sent to the Ministry of Finance and will also be discussed with the labor unions.
The minister noted that this change is also being considered based on a survey conducted among educators. The survey results, he said, revealed a number of objections to the current mechanism for granting the performance-based bonus.
