From August 24 to 28, 2026, Ambassador Vladimir Cuc and Deputy Permanent Representative Marin Cebotari will participate in the conference.
In his address to the plenary session, Vladimir Cuc reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to promoting global responsibility in the arms trade and respect for international law, with a view to strengthening global security and reducing human suffering.
The ambassador welcomed the accession of Vanuatu and Ecuador to the Arms Trade Treaty and expressed the Republic of Moldova’s support for the development of the ATT Strategy for the next five years.
At the same time, the Moldovan delegation drew attention to the risks to civilians posed by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Vladimir Cuc also mentioned recent incidents on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, including unauthorized overflights of its airspace and the crash of Russian drones in the country.
The Republic of Moldova reiterated its position on the need to withdraw Russian Federation military forces and ammunition depots illegally deployed on its territory.
In the context of the European Union accession process, the delegation also presented the reforms adopted by the Government, including the modernization of the national mechanism for controlling trade in strategic goods and the National Program on the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons for 2026–2030.
