Osmochescu’s Priorities: European Integration, Acclimatization, and Effective Subsidies

Moldova’s accession to the European Union, the adaptation of agriculture to climate change, and the development of the agri-food industry—these three areas of activity have been identified as priorities by the new Minister of Agriculture, Eugeniu Osmochescu.

According to him, achieving these goals will enable the agri-food sector to become more competitive and sustainable. In this context, “subsidies should be provided in a way that has a real economic impact.”

The minister emphasized that MAIA plays an important role in the process of European integration, since approximately 33% of European directives and regulations that must be transposed into national law pertain to agriculture.

The minister announced that the first meeting “with all stakeholders on the platform of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister” would be convened next week.
