According to Trump, Iran never took advantage of the opportunities to strike a deal with the U.S.
“That is why today I am announcing the most devastating economic operation ever carried out against any country! It will be an economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale. Their navy has been destroyed, their air force has been destroyed, their military factories have been reduced to ruins, their currency has collapsed, and their country is hanging by a thread,” the U.S. president said.
He added that now any country that provides assistance to Iran in any way “will itself face enormous economic consequences.” Trump called on U.S. allies to stand with Washington “to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat.”
“These historic measures will undermine [Iran’s] ability to spread terror around the world. Iran will never have nuclear weapons,” the U.S. president concluded.
