Financial professionals celebrate their holiday

Today, August 15, finance professionals are celebrating their professional holiday, established in 1995 to recognize the important role of finance professionals in the country’s economic development. Every year on this day, relevant government agencies express their gratitude to these professionals, and the best specialists are honored with awards. In their honor, the Ministry of Finance hosts a gala evening to celebrate their achievements.

The fourth edition of the Financial Gala Evening, organized by the Ministry of Finance to mark Financial Workers’ Day, took place yesterday, where the best—as selected by the ministry and based on a public vote— were honored with certificates, as reported by the ministry.

Minister Viktoria Belous sent a congratulatory message addressed to all finance professionals, in which she also expressed “gratitude to the veterans of the financial system, whose experience and dedication have contributed to the formation of a strong professional tradition.”

The Best of the Best

The Ministry of Finance does not publicly release complete lists of all nominees by name, as this is an internal professional competition. However, the names of some notable past winners become known through statements from their companies or official press releases.

For example, at the 2025 Gala Financiară, one of the awardees was Larisa Luchin, deputy head of the Internal Audit Department at Comerțbank. She was awarded an honorary diploma (Diploma de apreciere) in one of the private sector’s main categories—“Best Auditor in the Private Sector.”

In previous years (2023–2025), top departmental awards—Certificates of Appreciation from the Government and the Ministry of Finance—were also awarded to the heads of key departments for their special contributions to reforming the system: the heads of the Ministry of Finance’s tax and customs policy departments, leading specialists of the State Tax Service, and the heads and chief specialists of the finance departments of territorial district councils (Ungheni, Cahul, Soroca, and others) in the “Best District Council Finance Specialist” category.
