The 2026 budget of the National Road Construction Investment Company (CNIR) provides for investments totaling approximately one billion Romanian lei, nearly half of which will be made through the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) for the A8 Târgu Neamț–Iași–Ungheni highway, the company announced in a press release published on its official social media page.

“The budget of the National Road Infrastructure Investment Company was approved today at a government meeting, marking a new phase in strengthening CNIR’s capacity to implement strategic highway and expressway construction projects while simultaneously accelerating investments.

CNIR’s 2026 budget provides for investments totaling approximately one billion lei, of which 600 million lei will come from the European Grant Fund (the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the “Connecting Europe”) and 455 million lei through the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) financing instrument for the A8 Târgu Neamț–Iași–Ungheni highway,” the cited source specifies.
