Maia Sandu and Emmanuel Macron
This was reported by the presidential website, which noted the country’s commitment to pan-European interests.
In her remarks, President Maia Sandu emphasized that Moldova’s participation in the coalition is a natural step and a continuation of the support provided to Ukraine since the first days of the war.
“We share a 1,222-kilometer border with Ukraine. Part of Ukraine’s borders are front lines. Others are used to launch attacks. Our border is a friendly one, which is a strategic advantage for Ukraine and for this coalition,” the president noted.
Tuesday’s parade will serve both as a national holiday and as the final demonstration of Macron’s vision for European security.
According to a European publication, Macron is using Bastille Day to showcase Europe’s defense ambitions.
The Élysée Palace stated that Tuesday’s parade will highlight the buildup of France’s military power, Europe’s desire to strengthen its own defense capabilities, and what they called a “strategic awakening” on the continent, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and broader geopolitical tensions are leading to increased defense spending.
