Osmochescu will open its sixth cluster in Europe

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the third intergovernmental conference “Republic of Moldova–European Union” is headed not by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, who has not yet been appointed, but by Eugen Osmochescu, who is currently serving as acting prime minister. A government website reports that negotiations on the sixth cluster, “External Relations,” will officially begin on July 14.

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov will present the Republic of Moldova’s negotiating position on this cluster. At the end of the conference, the Acting Prime Minister will hold a joint press conference with representatives of European institutions.

The visit’s agenda also includes meetings with representatives of European institutions. Osmochescu will meet with Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement; and Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity.

The Acting Prime Minister will discuss economic issues with Maroš Šefčovič, European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security. There will also be a discussion with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG ENEST), according to the government press service.

As a reminder, negotiations on the first cluster, “Fundamental Values,” which began a month ago, are already underway.
