You can report the loss or theft of an ID card, passport, or national identity card online.
The service is available to citizens over the age of 18 for their own documents. Legally married parents may also file a report regarding the documents of their minor children. A separate report must be filed for each child.
To use the service, go to the EVO platform or open the mobile app, search for the service using the query “loss or theft of documents,” log in, and sign the report with an electronic signature.
Submitting an application for a lost identity card or internal identity card is free of charge. A state fee of 50 lei is charged for an application regarding a lost passport. You can pay this fee via MPay, at a bank, at the post office, or through payment terminals by 11:59 p.m. on the day you submit the application.
If the lost or stolen identity card contains an electronic signature, it is automatically revoked and cannot be restored.
After the application is submitted, the document automatically receives the status “Lost” or “Stolen” in the State Population Register. The applicant receives confirmation that the request has been registered.
The ASP notes that the new service allows citizens to resolve issues related to lost documents remotely, without having to visit government offices in person.
