The announcement was made by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, who stated that the Republic of Moldova is maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the authorities in Bucharest in light of the crisis.

“We are in constant contact with the Romanian government. The Romanian government understands the situation in the Republic of Moldova, and I am confident that we will find solutions. The Prime Minister will be visiting there in the coming days, and his first official visit, as promised, will be to Bucharest,” Igor Grosu said on TVR Moldova.

According to the Speaker of Parliament, the current fuel crisis is an imported one, influenced by regional developments and the security situation. Authorities in Chișinău are preparing new measures to mitigate its effects.

The authorities assure the public that steps are being taken to secure fuel supplies.

“A shipment of fuel has already arrived at the port of Giurgiulești today. Another river shipment will arrive tomorrow. So work is underway,” the Speaker of Parliament added.

Igor Grosu noted that the authorities in Chișinău will ask Romania to take into account the needs of the Republic of Moldova when making decisions regarding energy security and fuel supplies.
