Thus, the Associated Press notes, tariffs will be imposed on most Canadian imports. Reuters adds that this involves nearly $20 billion worth of Canadian products.
The decision was made in response to Canada’s “discriminatory treatment” of U.S. products. Trump cited the Tariff Act of 1930, which allows the president to impose tariffs on foreign products without congressional approval.
