Tatiana Nistorica, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, spoke at the forum as one of the representatives from the agri-food sector.
She presented the support tools available to women entrepreneurs in agriculture and rural areas. She discussed both targeted subsidies specifically for this category of agricultural producers and donor-funded programs aimed at promoting competitiveness and the diversification of economic activities.
“The sustainable development of rural communities is closely linked to the active participation of women in economic activities and decision-making processes. Supporting women’s entrepreneurship in agriculture helps unlock local potential and create opportunities for rural development,” noted Tatiana Nistorica.
It is worth noting that in Moldova’s agricultural sector, the vast majority of workers (according to expert estimates, more than 90%) are men. At the same time, job opportunities for women in rural areas are very limited. Given these factors, supporting self-employment and women’s entrepreneurship in rural Moldova is particularly important.
