The visit brings together representatives from Moldova, Armenia and Ukraine – participants in the Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Programme (RDPI). As part of the programme, they are familiarising themselves with the practices of the Hungarian state bodies responsible for combating infringements of intellectual property rights.

The programme for the visit includes working meetings with representatives of the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration, the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, the police and the public prosecutor’s office. Participants will also visit customs and airport facilities.

How Hungary combats counterfeiting and piracy

Particular attention will be paid to examining cases of intellectual property rights infringements, as well as to the cooperation between customs authorities and rights holders. Participants will be able to study the mechanisms used in Hungary to combat counterfeit goods and piracy in trade.

For the Moldovan Customs Service, this exchange of experience is aimed at strengthening national capacity to detect and combat infringements of intellectual property rights, as well as developing inter-agency cooperation within the framework of the RDPI.

The Moldovan delegation’s participation in the visit forms part of its cooperation with EUIPO and the opportunities for the exchange of experience provided by the EU4IP project.
