Her trip to Orhei National Park prompted this appeal. The lawmaker admitted that the local landscapes simply captivated her.
“I knew Moldova was beautiful, but today I discovered a stunning place—Orhei National Park. It’s pristine, unspoiled nature, where the sun and birdsong blend together. We’re deeply impressed. I want to say once again: we have something to cherish. We have a country worth working for, worth developing, and worth leaving to future generations just as God gave it to us,” Angela Munteanu-Požoga shared during the hike, which she undertook together with her colleagues in Parliament.
Orhei National Park is located in the very heart of Moldova, just 46 kilometers north of Chisinau. The protected area encompasses four districts: Orhei, Strășeni, Călărași, and Criuleni.
The park covers 338 square kilometers (approximately 1% of Moldova’s total territory), and more than half of this area is covered by dense forests. The most spectacular part of the reserve is its deep, rocky gorges. The local limestone formations are unique; scientists estimate their age to be between 8 and 13 million years.
