The cabinet approved the launch of negotiations on the financing agreement on the project “Regional Hospitals of RM” between Moldova and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The agreement is aimed at obtaining a loan of 101 million euros from the EIB, in order to implement a large-scale medical infrastructure project. As a result, more than 300 thousand people from the districts of Cahul, Comrat, Leova, Ceadir-Lunga, Taraclia, Cantemir and Vulcanesti will have access to highly efficient medical services.

The new hospital with an area of more than 50 thousand square meters will be equipped with modern medical equipment, diagnostic and treatment technologies. It will include an operating unit with eight operation rooms, interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization and advanced endoscopic procedures. The tertiary emergency department will also be equipped with a hybrid operating room for complex interventions.

The hospital will open a regional cancer center where patients will be able to receive chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytherapy sessions. Disease diagnosis will be carried out by nuclear medicine tools such as gamma camera and SPECT/CT.

The implementation of the project will bring quality medical services closer to citizens of the southern districts, reduce the burden on medical institutions in the capital and contribute to the modernization of the national health care system.
